Wellola raises €1 million for growth

Wellola is delighted to announce that we have raised €1 million in funding from Business Venture Partners (BVP) to support the growth of our healthcare communications platform in Ireland, the UK and across Europe.

This news follows on from recent announcements of large NHS contracts secured in England, including Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust and Birmingham Community NHS Foundation Trust, and will enable us to fund our expansion in existing and new markets.

The Wellola team believes only the sickest of the sick should be hospitalised and that the future of healthcare is preventative, community-based and supported by digital tools. Ensuring high quality care that is effective, efficient, equitable, accessible and acceptable to patient users underpins all that Wellola does.

Built by clinicians for clinicians, Wellola is very much aligned with the key deliverables of modern-day healthcare providers- to improve the flow of healthcare information between patients and their care-providers and to shift of care out of acute hospital setting into the community. Wellola’s communications platform is rich in functionality, highly modularized & interoperable. It is a platform rather than point solution, incorporating eight core communications modules. These modules support our clients as their communication needs grow, complimenting existing systems to offer everything from appointment management to remote care delivery via our symptom tracking, video and remote device connectivity modules, all fully integrated and interoperable with the key incumbent technologies in a given healthcare ecosystem.

Sonia Neary, CEO, and founder of Wellola said:

Our vision is very much a European wide one. We want to be Europe’s most accessible portal. This investment gives us the ability to deepen our partnerships and broaden our commercial footprint. More importantly, it will place our solution in the hands of more patients who, we believe, should have access to and be able to contribute to aspects of their healthcare record.

Elliott Griffin, MD, and Founder of BVP said:

BVP believes in digital tools to enhance patient care in healthcare, and we have been impressed by the interest in Wellola, from large healthcare providers in the UK.

Wellola is delighted it now has the strong, financial foundations in place to continue our growth journey – building on our success in Ireland, expanding on our success in the UK and developing into a new country market across Europe.
